A few reminders
1. If you happen to be aggravated when you call for service remember this: you'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar. In other words, be polite.

2. Ask for the name of the person you're talking to.

3. If that person says he'll take some action, repeat it and include the time frame: "OK, Bill. So I understand that the bulb on that light pole will be replaced by Friday. Great."

4. Write down the date, the person's name and what was promised. If you need to call back, your record will help you get results.

5. Be persistent. And if someone has gone out of her way to solve your problem, a follow-up phone call to thank her will be most appreciated.
